Licensing
General information
The DHD Operation Manager (DHDOM) is a DHD software product that needs to be licensed. That means, you are using the DHDOM software, but you have to purchase one or several licenses for this software. The software application DHD Operation Manager can be operated with different functional range. DHD provides several licenses to make the system cost-effective depending on your special needs.
**Note**\\ For the snapshot management without user administration (for backup purposes) no license is needed.
The Licensing is always hardware related. In Series 52/XC/XD/XS devices, the license code is stored in an EEPROM on the backplane of the respective frame, or on the internal MicroSD Card, if available.
**Important**\\ DHD licenses are always related to DHD hardware. See Licensing Overview for more information.
**Tip**\\ Temporary licenses for software and functionality tests can be ordered at DHD.
License types
Routing, Scheduling and Monitoring =
You can use every routing and scheduling function described in the DHDOM Routing, Scheduling and Monitoring Software manual if you purchase the license 52-8550 Routing/Scheduling Software. Contrary to the license 52-8550, with the license 52-8551 Routing Software, it is not possible to do scheduling. That means crosspoints can not be controlled time triggered. The license 52-8552 Routing Software, single matrix view is related to the license 52-8551, but with this license, it is only possible to create and administrate one matrix. The license 52-8552 is mainly suited for the 52/CR Compact Router.
If you hold the 52-8550 license, you can extend it for an arbitrary number of users. Therefore, you need one or more licenses of the type 52-8553 Additional license for 52-8550. For the license 52-8551, it is quite the same. In this case, you have to order the license 52-8554 Additional license for 52-8551.
If you want to use some workstations only for monitoring, the license 52-8555 Monitoring Software, 20 licenses should be the best choice. At these workstations, all inputs - that are enabled for monitoring by the administrator - can be routed to a defined stereo output. But for administrative purposes, you need one of the licenses 52-8550, 52-8551 or 52-8552.
Snapshot Manager
As aforementioned the snapshot management is free for one user (for the administrator). To be able to handle snapshots of a DHD system by several users, you need to purchase the license 52-8562 Snapshot Manager Software.
Remote Control
With the license 52-8563 Remote Control Software it is possible to remote control DHD devices.
**Important**\\ Remote Control software can be used up to Firmware 8.2.x.\\ For device with firmware 9.0 or higher use Views App.
DSP Control
To control the parameters of the DSP functions (e.g., EQs, compressors ...) the 52-8565 DSP Control Software license is needed. In conjunction with RM4200D systems, this software application was formerly known as "Access Software".
Floating licenses for Remote Control & DSP Control
For information on the Floating licenses of the Remote Control and and DSP Control software see: Floating Licenses
Licensing examples
You will get one or several license codes from DHD depending on the ordered licenses and your individual devices. These codes can be transmitted to the device with the DHDOS and are afterward enduring saved in the device. Please find further information on the licensing process itself in the section License Administration.
The DHD Operation Server gets the number of valid licenses from the devices and allows the defined number of connections to the devices.
In the following examples, 25 workstations can operate the DHDOM at the same time. But that does not mean, that the licenses are reserved for 25 dedicated workstations. You can configure an arbitrary number of workstations to operate the DHDOM, but the number of workstations, that are able to connect to the devices at the same time, depends on the type and the number of licenses in the devices.
Example 1
In the first example routing and scheduling is activated for 5 workstations. Therefore, in this example, the routing and scheduling software 52-8550 is purchased once and became extended with 4 additional licenses of the type 52-8553. In parallel 20 further edit stations can be run in monitor mode in this case. For this, you need additionally the license 52-8555.

Example 2
The structure of the second example is quite the same like in example 1, but other licenses are used. In this example the user does not need the time-triggered control of crosspoints, because of that the license 52-8551 without scheduling function is used together with 4 licenses of the type 52-8554. Because in this case the license 52-8555 is purchased as well, 20 edit stations can be used at the same time for monitoring like in example 1.
