Installation and Setup
PC System Requirements for DHDOS
Start the DHDOS
It is not needed to install the DHD Operation Server (DHDOS). Before starting the first time you only have to copy the software from the shipped CD to your PC. You can copy the software (DHDOS.exe) manually from the CD onto the PC or you just follow the automatically started installation process, after inserting the CD. Additionally the file OSDataImport.dll is needed.
**Important**\\ You are able to administrate several devices with the **same Project ID** with one DHDOS entity. It is **not** possible to administrate more devices with different Project IDs with the same DHDOS entity. It is possible to control devices of different projects (with different Project IDs) by several DHDOS entities on the same PC. Therefore, these other entities of the DHDOS and their Files folders need to be stored in other directories. If you want to open several entities of the DHDOS on the same PC, you need to activate the function Allow several servers on this computer.
Choose a directory on your local hard disk (e.g., C:\dhdos) for the files DHDOS.exe and OSDataImport.dll. Take care that only authorised users have access to this directory. Make sure that there is enough free space on the hard disk. The actual required space on the volume depends on the number of events and the chosen logging options. The required space can exceed 100 MB after a while.
A subfolder named Files is created in the path where the server is located, when you start the DHD Operation Server (DHDOS) for the first time. In this folder you can find the file DHDOS.OSP. This file includes all data concerning the device or the devices. Furthermore a backup of the data base file is saved into the subfolder DHDOS-BAK.OSP. If the DHDOS indicates an error in the database file, the software automatically saves a copy of the current DHDOS.OSP file - named DHDOS.OSP.defect - and renames the latest backup file to DHDOS.OSP. The file named DHDOS.OSP.1 is always the latest copy of the database and is used in this case.
**Tip**\\ It is recommended to copy the whole Files folder from time to time on an other hard disk or an other PC to create a backup manually.
Also the application DHD Communication Server (DHDCS) is extracted, when you start the DHDOS for the first time. This software administrates the whole communication between DHD systems in the network and the related applications on the PC.
Delete the files DHDOS.exe, OSDataImport.dll and the subfolder Files with all its files to uninstall the software. Make sure that no entity of the DHDOS is still running, before starting the uninstall process.
Configure DHDOS
After installing DHDOS, you have to configure it correctly to work with your TB8 Project and work with your Hardware.
First, go through the **Basic Configuration Settings** of DHDOS. Go to Administration Menu / Server Preferences. Make sure:
* Demo Mode is **not** active
* Logging is Active and configured correctly (see Logging for more information and Logging Options on the Administration / Server Preferences Window.)
* In the Communication Tab of Administration / Server Preferences Window the correct network adapter must be selected.
If these Settings are correct, you have to **import your TB8 configuration data**. This step is vital, because DHDOS otherwise does not know which devices are configured and how the behaviour has to be handled. To get more information on how to import your config, see Administration Menu / Data & Devices.
When those steps are done, you now can start your Operation Manager.
