Regain access to a XC3/XD3 device
Note
This document only applies to XC3/XD3 devices running firmware version 10 or newer.
In case you lost access to your XC3/XD3 core device, you can perform a reset. You may have lost access due to:
- Network settings misconfiguration
- Network service misconfiguration
- Lost admin password
Tip
In case you still have network access to your XC3/XD3 core device and only lost the admin password, follow Reset lost admin password on XC3/XD3.
Note
The following steps will only reset the admin password and network settings of the core device. Everything else, like Toolbox configuration or stored snapshots, will not be touched.
To reset network settings and admin password on XC3 and XD3 core devices:
1. Locate the FCT key
2. Press and hold the FCT key
Press and hold the FCT
key for at least 20 seconds.
Important
When pressing FCT
key you should feel only a slight resistance. Do not press the FCT
key too hard to avoid physical damage.
Tip
To press the FCT
key, a pin tool is required. Alternatively, you can use a straightened paper clip.
3. Setup a new admin user and set network settings
After a successful reset, network settings and admin password are reset to factory defaults. To continue, follow Getting started with XC3/XD3/XS3.
