Design - Creating TFT Views

On the Design tab you define which will be shown in the view, as well as their size and arrangement.

At first, assign a distinctive name to the created view. To do that, in the View Settings area, enter a name in the View Name box.

All elements which you can use in the view are shown in the Available Elements list. You can drag elements from this list to the display preview View Presentation. The element is only dropped if it is completely located on the display preview. As long as it is not, the element is shown with a red background.

You can change the position of an element, when you drag the element to a new location. Make sure the elements do not overlap.

To remove an element, drag the element to the Available Elements list.

Elements that can be changed in size, have a small striped icon in the lower right corner. If you left-click and hold on this area, you can change the size of the object by moving the mouse.

Above the display preview, you find four zoom buttons to enlarge or reduce the site of the preview, to scale it to its original size and to adjust it to the screen size. These settings are for a better clarity of the configuration process only, they do not affect the view on the TFT display.

Available Elements

The following display and operating elements are available for configuring TFT views.

Transparent • Transparent box that can contain a name/text.
• The background color can change depending on a selected condition.
• Instead of the background color, the font color can be defined (select the Use color for text check box).
• The font size can be adjusted (Font Size 1 = small, Font Size 5 = large).
• Example: By linking a transparent with a fader start logic function, the field shows whether the fader is open or not.
Button • Because all DHD TFT displays are touch sensitive, you can configure buttons that can be used like keys on a console.
• Instead of the font color, the background color can be defined (select the Use color for text check box).
• The font size can be adjusted (Font Size 1 = small, Font Size 5 = large).
Analog clock • Analog and digital time display.
• The abbreviations of the weekdays shown by the clock element can changed.
PPM • Level meter for mono and stereo signals and correlation level meter.
• Available scale types: German PPM (-60 dB to +10 dB), IEC IIa BBC PPM (1 to 7), Nordic (-42 dB to +12 dB), EBU-digital (-36 dB to 0 dB), North American VU (-20 dB to +3 dB), Digital 0…60 dB (-60 dB to 0 dB).
• Above a certain value the bar graph changes its color from yellow to red. This threshold is adjustable between -20 dB and +20 dB (default = 0 dB).
• An offset can be configured for the scale (-20 dB to +20 dB, default = 0 dB).
• The source of a PPM is a level detect. (See also Level Detection)

Note
You can set the properties of the peak program meters of the TFT displays with the aid of Toolbox5 configuration software. In the project tree, select <Device>/<Mixer>/Logic/Level Detects and select the desired Level Detect.
Please enter the following values to emulate an analog peak program meter with an integration time of 10 ms, according to the standards DIN 45406 and IEC 268-10 (PPM, Type I), respectively:
• Attack = 2 ms
• Release = 0.7 s
Please use the following values to emulate a digital peak program meter:
• Attack = 0 ms (or 1 ms if integration time is required)
• Release = 0.7 s

• Optional with or without correlation meter.
• The scale colour can be adapted.
PPM (5.1) • Level meter for 5.1 signals (See PPM and Further Information on 5.1 PPM)
Loudness Meter • Loudness meter for mono and stereo signals
• Available scale types: EBU+18 LU, EBU+9 LU, EBU-5 LU, EBU-15 LU
Timer • Timer with automatic and manual control.
Label Element • Different functions (preset is None).
• Instead of the font colour, the background colour can be defined (select the Use color for text check box).
• The font size can be adjusted (Font Size 1 = small, Font Size 5 = large).
Channel Name • Shows the channel name.
Clock • Digital time display.
Channel Timer • Shows the channel timer.
Timer • Shows one of the central timers (timer 1 to 6).
OVL Err (Overload / Error)Overload is shown, if an analog input is overdriven.
Error is shown, if no valid signal is connected to a digital input.
Last loaded ChSnap • Shows the number and the name of the channel snapshot that was loaded last.
Last loaded MxSnap • Shows the number and the name of the mixer snapshot that was loaded last.
Limiter active • This function is active, if the limiter reduces the gain.
Filter • Graph for showing the EQ parameters.
Dynamic • Graph for showing the compressor parameters.
Parameter Element • Shows certain parameters of a selected DSP function (possible functions: EQ1…4, SubSonic, Limiter, Noise Gate, Compressor, Expander, AGC, Var. LP/HP 1, Var. LP/HP2, Gain, Panorama/Balance, Delay, 5.1 Pan/Bal, 5.1 Surround, 5.1 Misc)
Encoder Element • For configuring the hardware rotary controllers (except Aux functions).
• A DSP function can be selected that can be controlled using the corresponding rotary controller. (possible functions: EQ1…4, SubSonic, Limiter, Noise Gate, Compressor, Expander, AGC, Var. LP/HP 1, Var. LP/HP2, Gain, Panorama/Balance, Delay, 5.1 Pan/Bal, 5.1 Surround, 5.1 Misc) Also, a sub-function can be selected that is set by default. Additionally, you can lock the preselected sub-function or you can hide all other sub-functions to show the selected sub-function enlarged. In both cases it is not possible to swap to another sub-function.
Aux Element • For configuring the hardware rotary controllers (Aux functions only).
• For a certain rotary controller, an Aux bus can be selected, the level of which is to be modified. Also, a sub-function can be selected that is set by default. Additionally, you can lock the preselected sub-function.
Compressor Element • Shows the gain reduction caused by the compressor and/or the limiter.
• Select the Compressor check box to show the gain reduction caused by the compressor.
• Select the Limiter check box to show the gain reduction caused by the limiter.
• It is possible to select both check boxes to show the sum of the gain reduction of the compressor and the limiter.
Up/Down Element • With up/down elements it is possible to control the encoder functions Potentiometer, Rotary Monitor and Timer. (The encoder functions and its further options are explained in the Control Modules section.)

• The shown content of the element can follow the menu (Access).
Main Parameter Element • Shows the parameters of a selected DSP function.
• Push the element on the TFT display to control parameters with a main encoder.
• Push the element again to toggle through the different parameters.
• In the DSP Function list, you can select the source for the parameters.
Main Encoder Element • Shows the parameters of a selected DSP function.
• Push the element on the TFT display to control parameters with a main encoder.
• Push the element again to toggle through the different parameters.
• In the DSP Function list, you can select the source for the parameters.
• In the Default Menu list, you can select the default parameter.
Main Aux Element • Shows the parameters of a selected Aux bus.
• Push the element on the TFT display to control parameters with a main encoder.
• Push the element again to toggle through the different parameters (Gain, Mode).
Button List • Dynamic Button List. Can be used as Input Select, Monitor Select or Snapshot selection. Usage of Monitor Select in combination with defined Selector.
Display Button • Button with display. Can be used to set access view on defined channel or to get an processing overview.
